On Solitude Part 1: A Promise's Performance; A Beginning Statement; A Solitude's Writing
Meanwhiles is a series dedicated to writing as a practice. It’s writing is dedicated to all those things pushed away consciously or not so as to focus on the functioning of a broken world. Big and small, it hopes, and it hopes that what comes from dedicating time and space to a practice in all of the meanwhile moments lived between work, school, eat, sleep, is to remind us of why we continue to live. It is hopeful, and it wants to find ways to think and be that come from sustained engagements with others, writers, artists, thinkers, friends, revolutionaries, people, but also things, colors, artworks, media, and anything else which crosses paths with life as it is sustained and lived.
This Meanwhiles is the beginning of an exploration of solitude and how we extend beyond it. Considering that solitude, when it is not alienating but reparative instead, can become something more than simply being alone.
